Conference

The 12th biennial ISJR conference will be held on August 14-17, 2008.  For the first time in the history of ISJR, the conference is moving “down-under”, to Adelaide, Australia.  Hosted by Flinders University in South Australia, the theme of the 2008 conference is Justice in a Diverse Society, although attendees will be presenting cutting-edge research on all aspects of justice and fairness.  Following from this theme, the conference will feature keynote addresses by John Braithwaite (Australian National University), Timur Kuran (Duke University) and Aileen Moreton-Robinson (Queensland University of Technology).  ISJR president Linda Skitka (University of Illinois at Chicago) and the ISJR Early Contribution and Lifetime Achievement awardees will also give featured addresses during the conference.

In addition to being the venue for the 2008 meeting, Adelaide is a destination in itself.  South Australia is the world-renowned wine center of the country, with over a hundred cellar doors within an hour or two from the conference hotel.  The organizers have planned an optional preconference wine tour, as well as a family-oriented excursion to visit the native Aussie wildlife.  The conference itself is being held at the seaside resort town of Glenelg, with floor to ceiling sunset views in all the conference ballrooms.  Attendees are also encouraged to take advantage of the location to explore the rest of the vast Australian continent.

Visit the ISJR 2008 website for detailed information on the meeting itself, how to submit contributions, and travel/tourism suggestions at http://socsci.flinders.edu.au/isjr/.

The conference chair, Michael Wenzel, and the rest of the Australia-based organizing committee, look forward to welcoming ISJR and its delegates.

The Biennial Conference of ISJR acts as a major conduit in creating a network between scholars from around the world exchanging theoretical developments and recent research on social justice. Many countries are represented at these conferences, ranging in various fields of study including Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Political Science, Economics, Law, and Education.
